Thank you. This time I grilled it without a lid on to see how it comes out. Much better I think than having the lid on. Even after cooking it for maybe 45 minutes to long it was juicy. I think it was done in 1hr 10 minutes. I took it off just over 2 hrs because the Mrs didn't have the sides ready.
I wasn't sure how to build the fire or how hot. So I just experimented. I used lump charcoal and pored about 3/4 chimney in the middle of the grate and spread it out across the middle under the birds. Had to add a few pieces every once in a while to keep the fire going.

I wish we can get a complete article from Meathead on using a rotisserie. I know he has written a little here and there. I also have his book which is great.
But still after reading, there is still unanswered questions which I seem to be figuring out as I go. But it was just a guess to see if it worked out ok it's not. So far, I haven't ruined any meat. LOL

This is a pretty good 5 min vid on roto set up. It shows laying the fire in a kettle at about 1 min in. I've been using that "to one side method so far for all my tests with good results.

Thank you. Yes it is one awesome chicken cooker. I tried it both ways with lid on and lid off. I like the lid off method for chicken.

I sent a msg to Meathead on Twitter. He said to ask here (somewhere) so he could answer my questions. Where on here do I ask him?
