So, for INITIAL seasoning, I like the oven since you want to season inside and outside too and it's even heat. 400F for ~30 minutes, let cool, rinse and repeat a few times. No worrying about too long on the burner, etc.
Once seasoned, as pthers have said, scrub out (I use a stiff bristle plastic brush), rinse, toss it back on the burner I just used to cook (which is now off) and let it dry. A bit of oil (not a ton, a disk maybe the size of a quarter), wipe over the surface of the pan, toss in cabinet.
