I have had a stainless steel wok sitting in my cabinet for years. There have been a couple of days where I almost threw it in the trash, just to clear space. I could never get high heat without food sticking. Occasional I would use it for medium heat cooking or steaming veggies. But now, high heat and no more sticking thanks to this process:

I do this every time. Preheat dry wok until just a mere wisp of smoke forms. Add oil and heat until just smoking. Adjust temp add food and stir fry.
